Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Support Specialist to join our team at the Virginia Department of Transportation. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial support and services to ensure the smooth operation of our daily activities.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, math, and business principles, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You will be working closely with our accounting team to maintain, calculate, and perform data entry of employee time, overtime, leave, and equipment rental.

You will also be responsible for receiving, verifying, and reconciling invoices, as well as preparing financial reports and interpreting Cardinal reports. Additionally, you will assist with special projects and provide administrative support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, calculate, and perform data entry of employee time, overtime, leave, and equipment rental
  • Receive, verify, and reconcile invoices
  • Prepare financial reports and interpret Cardinal reports
  • Assist with special projects and provide administrative support as needed

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and business principles
  • Working knowledge of policies/procedures related to time and attendance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, inventory, and travel
  • Experience procuring goods and services, including requisition, purchase orders, and Small Purchasing Credit Card (SPCC)
  • Ability to monitor, analyze, and reconcile data, and accurately perform data entry in automated financial systems

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $19.04 - $30.94 per hour, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and holidays.
