Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Body Shop Technician to join our team at Ascendance. As a key member of our fabrication and repair team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch repairs to truck bodies and straightening vehicle frames to the highest possible standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and Fabrication: Disassemble and reassemble fabricated truck/trailer parts using power tools and cutting torch, and bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and cutting torch.
  • Frame Straightening: Straighten bent frames and use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications.
  • Component Identification and Replacement: Identify components that need new parts or need to be replaced, and place orders as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Properly fill depressions with body filler and ensure a quality repair.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer, and comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understand and keep abreast of all federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required; one to four years body shop experience strongly preferred.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Unrestricted Driver's License required; CDL A or B License beneficial.
  • Skills and Abilities: Operate power and hand tools and other equipment used in servicing vehicles, move freely throughout the service area, and perform basic math calculations.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Written and verbal communication skills, and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers and customers.
Working Conditions

The worker is subject to both environmental conditions, activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to noise, vibration, and hazards, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

Training and Development

The successful candidate will receive training in safety procedures, including Lock Out-Tag Out and Right to Know/Hazardous Materials/Chemicals, as well as Emergency Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment.
