Job Title: Medical Intake and Outreach Senior Coordinator

Make-A-Wish Michigan is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Intake and Outreach Senior Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with medical professionals and hospital systems throughout the state to increase brand awareness, educate on qualification criteria, and ultimately increase referrals to grant more wishes.

Job Summary:

The Medical Intake and Outreach Senior Coordinator will be responsible for relationship building and managing partnerships with specific hospitals and treatment centers in the state. This includes one-on-one meetings and onboarding of medical professionals, public speaking at various events to share about the impact and power of a wish in the lives of children battling critical illness, and stewarding the teams we work with. This role will also be responsible for the intake of referrals and gathering additional medical information from the child's family and/or medical team so the organization is able to determine eligibility for a wish.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage part of the intake and medical eligibility process, including processing incoming referrals from start to finish, communicating with families and medical teams, and sending/processing Make-A-Wish forms.
  • Responsible for adhering to National's governing policies, performance standards, and guidelines.
  • Provide support to the Director of Medical Outreach & Hospital Partnerships for wish reveals and state-wide referral drives throughout the year.
  • Medical outreach and stewardship, including in-person hospital/clinic visits and meetings with a focus on locations in the West Michigan and Northern Michigan territories.
  • Plan and execute events and hospital opportunities, such as wish reveals/celebrations, referral drives, craft opportunities for patients, etc.
  • Attend medical conferences and hosting Make-A-Wish information booths.
  • Conduct grassroots outreach to clinics and community groups to share referral information with a focus on reaching diverse families.
  • Represent MAWMI in the community at events.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably a degree related to the medical field such as nursing, medical assisting, etc.
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience required.
  • Commitment to and a passion for the mission of Make-A-Wish Michigan and reaching every eligible child.
  • Commitment to reaching eligible children in underserved communities and a passion for being a part of our organization's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives.
  • Ability to drive new referrals through outreach to new medical teams, follow up and follow through, and the ability to manage time and budget wisely in planning meetings and opportunities out in the field.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and database management, preference for familiarity with Salesforce.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with medical teams, parents or legal guardians who have referred a child to us, wish families, senior management, and staff.

  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with all constituents we serve and partner with and ability to provide compassionate response and follow up when sharing eligibility determination with parents or legal guardians.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized.
  • Highly professional demeanor, able to work successfully with a wide variety of constituents including medical professionals, donors, vendors, volunteers, and wish families.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple priorities, and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a leader who is passionate about the mission and can engage new medical teams and drive referrals.
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups of varying sizes to convey the Make-A-Wish mission and eligibility criteria.
  • Confidentiality with medical information and PII, as well as personal integrity are essential.
