Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team at Verizon. As a key member of our compliance team, you will be responsible for preparing and filing video franchise and PEG filings with various local franchise authorities, utilizing financial systems to analyze data, compute payments, and file returns while adhering to compliance laws and contractual agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file all video franchise and PEG filings accurately and timely in accordance with all laws and regulations for all Verizon-owned companies.
  • Understand the impact of new pricing and video offers and apply to video filings accordingly.
  • Track Franchise Recovery costs and submit requests to initiate and end accordingly.
  • Partner with Video Franchise Legal team to review contract renewals for changes to existing payment terms and ensure implementation.
  • Prepare payments, manage liabilities, and expenses related to the filings; work with AP, Treasury, and various in-house payment systems.
  • Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions (including due diligence), reconciliations, budgets, metrics, cash forecasting, and other monthly reports.
  • Ensure adherence to all SOX controls.
  • Assist with related audits, billing inquiries, and resolve notices.
  • Conduct research as needed to comply with legislative changes and implement best compliance practices.
  • Focus on identifying process improvements and streamlining/automating existing procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience in Tax, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Advanced computer skills are required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines.
  • Solid oral, written, and analytical skills.
  • Even better if you have one or more of the following: experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies.
  • Proficiency with large volume data analysis needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Previous exposure to PeopleSoft or SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software).
  • Working knowledge of automation tools (i.e. Alteryx, Qlik) and technical skills.
