Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Analyst to join our team at Verizon. As a key member of our financial compliance team, you will be responsible for preparing and filing state and local regulatory filings and business licenses in accordance with all laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file regulatory filings and business licenses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage liabilities and expenses related to tax returns, working with AP, Treasury, and various in-house payment systems.
  • Assist with analysis related to mergers and acquisitions, reconciliations, budgets, metrics, cash forecasting, and other monthly reports.
  • Ensure adherence to all SOX controls.
  • Conduct research as needed to comply with legislative changes and implement best compliance practices.
  • Identify process improvements and streamline/automate existing procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or four or more years of work experience.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Tax, Finance, or equivalent; Regulatory experience is a plus.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and/or tax-saving strategies.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables with competing timelines and accurately manage deadlines.
  • Solid oral, written, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with large volume data analysis needed for the preparation and filing of tax returns.
  • Previous exposure to SAP (or other major General Ledger Suite Software) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of automation tools (i.e. Alteryx, Qlik) and technical skills are a plus.
  • Ad-hoc/special projects experience.
