Job Title: Associate Director Federal Income Tax Compliance

At Verizon, we are seeking a highly skilled Associate Director Federal Income Tax Compliance to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the overall federal income tax compliance function for a company with over $130B of revenue and a complex structure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the federal income tax return preparation process in OneSource Income Tax.
  • Oversee the preparation of all federal income tax, insurance tax, and foundation tax returns, including estimates and extensions.
  • Review all of Verizon's federal tax filings, including its consolidated federal income tax return.
  • Manage the timeline and delivery of a comprehensive executive review package.
  • Coordinate with other Associate Directors and Senior Directors as necessary to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all federal tax processes.
  • Manage federal tax liability and ensure that Verizon pays the correct amount of tax throughout the year.
  • Liaise with the tax planning team to identify and implement tax planning strategies to minimize cash taxes and the effective tax rate.
  • Provide support to the federal audit team upon request.
  • Provide support for the quarterly and year-end tax provision processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various teams throughout Verizon, including Tax Policy, Treasury, and FP&A, to gain compliance, accounting, and reporting efficiencies.
  • Streamline and optimize tax processes through the use of various digital finance tools, including Alteryx, Qlik, and other technologies.
  • Manage a team of tax professionals and develop positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field or seven or more years of work experience.
  • Seven or more years of relevant work experience in the income taxes field.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal income taxes.
  • Experience with OneSource Income Tax.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals both technically and as future leaders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A CPA, Masters of Tax, or Masters of Accounting.
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Apportionment.
  • Solid data management and automation skills required; experience with Alteryx or Qlik is a significant plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability to work with individuals at all levels in a team environment.
  • Ability to independently challenge, when needed, while at the same time being supportive and solution-based.
  • Ability to navigate and negotiate through conflicting demands to maintain focus on priority objectives while ensuring key stakeholders' needs are met.
  • Ability to lead groups, build consensus, and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
  • Previous people management experience.
Work Environment:

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
