Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our pediatric care team, you will provide direct patient care to high-risk infants, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret antenatal and perinatal health history to identify potential risks and develop targeted care plans.
  • Assess gestational age and perform physical exams to evaluate infant health and identify areas for improvement.
  • Perform specialized procedures, including umbilical artery and vein catheterization, endotracheal intubation, and peripheral central venous catheterization, to ensure the best possible care for high-risk infants.
  • Order and interpret lab tests, radiographs, and routine diagnostics to inform care decisions and ensure accurate diagnoses.
  • Prescribe phototherapy, antimicrobial therapy, and enteral/parenteral nutrition and supplements as needed to support infant health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.
  • Develop, implement, review, and revise standards, procedures, and protocols for neonatal care to ensure the highest level of quality and safety.
  • Provide educational programs for staff to support quality improvement activities and maintain current knowledge and skills in neonatal care.
  • Participate in perinatal quality management programs to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted solutions.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of experience in neonatal care.
  • Masters degree in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of Nurse Practitioner experience in an acute care setting.
  • Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority for Hawaii State APRN prescriptive authority.
