Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Manager

The company operates 27 mines and processing facilities across the United States and has two additional exploration stage properties.

Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and works closely with the Corporate EHS team. This position is responsible for implementing and managing corporate environmental, health, and safety programs, as well as developing, training, and recommending specific environmental health and safety-related programs and activities, while following corporate and government regulations and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, administer, and enforce plant-wide safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Champion the training program, including annual refresher training.
  • Stay up-to-date with new EHS developments through attending courses and maintaining contact with other EHS professionals and regulatory agencies.
  • Promote personal development and awareness of EHS issues and concerns in all plant personnel.
  • Monitor and address safety activities and concerns in the plant.
  • Develop a strong and reputable relationship with both hourly and management employees.
  • Assist, train, and educate plant management and employees to develop, maintain, and ensure cooperation and understanding of good environmental, safety, and health practices.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene sampling.
  • Lead the EHS Committee.
  • Investigate incidents and enter them into the Industry Safe system.
Requirements
  • Organization: Ability to address projects in a logical manner and be methodical in approaching complex issues.
  • Communication: Ability to demonstrate good verbal skills and speak to all levels of the plant organization.
  • Cooperation: Ability to work well with all levels of employees in the organization and be flexible when decisions are made contrary to personal views.
  • Problem Analysis & Creativity: Ability to identify EHS problems, secure relevant information, identify possible causes, and suggest possible solutions.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of company policies and government regulations pertaining to EHS issues, training programs, industry requirements, MSHA standards, rules, regulations, practices, and interfacing/conducting plant inspections with MSHA inspectors.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • EHS experience.
  • MSHA experience.
  • Knowledge of standards, regulations, and permits.
