POSITION SUMMARY
Voices of Hope – Lexington, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on recovery support for individuals impacted by substance use disorders. Our mission is to foster an inclusive environment that embraces all recovery pathways, aiming to diminish stigma and affirm that recovery is attainable for everyone. We prioritize diversity and inclusion, ensuring that our services and employment opportunities are accessible to all, particularly those from historically marginalized communities.
This role as a Mobile Outreach Recovery Assistant involves engaging with vulnerable populations in our community, including individuals currently using substances, those facing homelessness or food insecurity, and individuals from underserved neighborhoods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Travel to build relationships with community partners and individuals seeking recovery assistance.
- Support the MORE Recovery Coach by preparing the outreach vehicle, setting up and dismantling equipment at various locations, and providing refreshments and essential supplies during outreach efforts.
- Serve as a role model for individuals in recovery and fellow staff members, demonstrating the possibility of recovery.
- Propose improvements to operational procedures and policies to enhance efficiency.
- Act as an advocate for the organization by adhering to and promoting current and new policies and protocols.
- Ensure participant confidentiality and protect organizational operations by maintaining discretion.
- Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with the addiction recovery process.
- Knowledge of local support services and resources within the recovery community.
- Ability to engage individuals in their current circumstances.
- Strong active listening skills, effective questioning, self-awareness, and treating individuals as valuable resources.
- Understanding of and ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- Experience working with diverse populations and cross-cultural skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both in individual and group settings.
- Strong customer service orientation is essential.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with no health restrictions affecting driving.
- A minimum of five years of driving experience with a clean driving record.
- Submission of a Motor Vehicle Release Form is necessary.
- This position requires working outdoors and from a mobile outreach vehicle.
- Ability to be a proactive, solution-oriented team member.
- Evening and weekend availability may be necessary.
- Completion of I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification is required.
- Background checks will be conducted (prior convictions may not disqualify an applicant).
WORK SCHEDULE
- Flexibility to work various hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation is mandatory.
