We are seeking a Maintenance Engineering Manager to oversee Plant Engineering functions, supporting our manufacturing facilities.

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Engineering Manager is tasked with ensuring that both the facility and production machinery are effectively maintained and engineered to perform designated functions safely and economically. The role operates during standard hours, with on-call responsibilities as needed. This position encompasses oversight of two local sites, necessitating occasional travel between them for training and operational assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, justifying, and executing capital improvement projects.
  • Monitoring machinery performance, including repair history, and planning necessary preventative maintenance actions.
  • Managing inventory levels to ensure that parts are available in a cost-effective manner.
  • Supervising maintenance technicians and hourly craftsmen, including skilled electrical and mechanical personnel, as well as overseeing onsite maintenance contractors.
  • Maintaining the physical facility to ensure it operates safely and cost-effectively, while adhering to safety regulations set by various authorities.
  • Collaborating with other departments to identify and implement projects aimed at enhancing safety, reducing costs, and improving production efficiency.
  • Engaging with external company groups to facilitate projects focused on productivity enhancements.
  • Developing and justifying departmental budget requirements while maintaining expenses within allocated limits.
  • Coordinating project activities, including equipment design and implementation, with engineering teams.
  • Supporting environmental health and safety initiatives, including waste management and pollution control measures.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience in maintenance disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and boiler operations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools like tape measures and calipers is required.
  • Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), is necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in interpreting blueprints, equipment manuals, and schematics is essential.
  • Experience in implementing and managing Preventive Maintenance and Work Order schedules is preferred.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines in challenging situations.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
  • Two to five years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering and maintenance setting is preferred.
  • Experience in the chemical industry or a similar industrial environment is advantageous.
