We are seeking a Maintenance Engineering Manager to oversee Plant Engineering functions supporting our manufacturing operations.
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Engineering Manager is accountable for ensuring that the facility and production machinery are maintained effectively and designed to perform specified operations safely and economically. The role involves working hours from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday, with availability for on-call duties. This position will support multiple local sites and may require travel between them as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, justify, and implement capital projects.
- Monitor machine performance, including repair history, and plan and execute necessary preventive maintenance activities efficiently.
- Maintain inventory levels that accurately reflect the operational parts requirements in a cost-effective manner.
- Supervise technicians and hourly maintenance staff, including skilled electrical and mechanical personnel, as well as onsite maintenance contractors.
- Ensure the physical facility is maintained in a safe and cost-effective condition, adhering to safety standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and execute projects aimed at enhancing safety, reducing manufacturing costs, and improving production efficiency.
- Engage with external company groups to support projects focused on productivity improvements.
- Develop and justify departmental budget needs while maintaining costs within the approved budget.
- Coordinate project activities, including equipment design and introduction, with project engineers and central engineering teams.
- Support environmental health and safety initiatives, including waste management and pollution control compliance.
Qualifications:
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong background in maintenance areas such as electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and boiler operations.
- Proficient in using measuring tools like tape measures and calipers.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with effective problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in reading blueprints, equipment manuals, and schematics.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining preventive maintenance and work order schedules is preferred.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage tasks in stressful situations.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Two to five years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering and maintenance environment is preferred.
- Experience in the chemical industry or similar industrial sectors is advantageous.
