Position Overview:
The Maintenance Engineering Manager is tasked with ensuring that the facility and production machinery are maintained effectively and designed to operate safely and efficiently. The role involves overseeing operations from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, with availability for on-call duties. This position encompasses support for two local sites, necessitating travel between them as required, including for training and plant assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, justify, and implement capital projects.
- Monitor machinery performance, including repair history, and plan and execute cost-effective preventative maintenance.
- Maintain inventory levels that accurately reflect operational parts requirements in a cost-efficient manner.
- Supervise technicians and hourly maintenance staff, including skilled electrical and mechanical personnel, as well as onsite maintenance contractors.
- Ensure the physical facility is maintained in a safe and cost-effective condition, adhering to safety standards set by regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and execute projects aimed at enhancing safety, reducing costs, and improving production efficiency.
- Engage with external company groups to support projects focused on productivity improvements.
- Develop and justify departmental budget requirements while managing costs effectively.
- Coordinate project activities, including equipment design and introduction, with project engineers and Central Engineering.
- Support environmental health and safety initiatives, including waste management and pollution control compliance.
Qualifications:
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in maintenance disciplines such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and boiler operations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using measuring tools like tape measures and calipers is required.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), are necessary.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in reading blueprints, equipment manuals, and schematics is essential.
- Prior experience in implementing and managing Preventive Maintenance and Work Order schedules is preferred.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage tasks in stressful situations.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Two to five years of progressive experience in a manufacturing engineering and maintenance environment is desirable.
- Experience in the chemical industry or a similar industrial background is advantageous.
