Senior Financial Accountant
Sage Ventures LLC is a comprehensive residential construction and property management organization. We are engaged in the development, ownership, rehabilitation, sale, and management of outstanding properties across the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area.

Role Summary:
The Senior Financial Accountant will report directly to the VP of Construction and will be instrumental in assisting the CFO with financial management and strategic evaluation for development initiatives. This role demands a commitment to ensuring the precision and effectiveness of financial operations while delivering insightful reporting to facilitate informed decision-making.

Project Management and Financial Oversight:
  • Engage with Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle, spearheading the development, assessment, and supervision of project budgets.
  • Proactively recognize and resolve potential budget discrepancies or challenges, ensuring projects adhere to timelines and financial plans.
  • Oversee contracts, ensure financial compliance, and enhance construction payment processes through accurate management of pay applications and loan disbursements.
  • Collaborate with the development team to provide valuable financial insights and support strategic planning.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
  • Supervise the closing procedures for real estate transactions, evaluate settlements, record financial transactions, and compile detailed financial reports.
  • Direct and manage the preparation of monthly financial statement packages (including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements) along with supporting documentation.
  • Create ad-hoc reports on project performance and financial status for timely insights to stakeholders.
  • Maintain a robust system of internal controls to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Financial Management Expertise:
  • Oversee the complete accounts payable process for development projects, including invoice management, vendor compliance, and payment oversight.
  • Lead the precise allocation of payroll expenses across various projects.
  • Supervise the calculation of returns and manage the distribution of equity and profits.
  • Assist with year-end 1099 preparation and collaborate on tax return processes.
Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will possess experience in the real estate sector, construction accounting, and property management.
  • This position requires extensive familiarity with construction requisitions, lender interactions, and financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A degree in accounting or business is required; CPA designation is advantageous.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is preferred.
