Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant II to join our team at Cardinal Group Companies. As a key member of our accounting team, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall integrity of financial records for a portfolio of real estate communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Bookkeeping: Accurately record revenue and expense accruals, depreciation and amortization entries, and other journal inputs.
  • Accounts Payable: Review check runs and maintain document and vendor correspondence files.
  • Accounts Receivable: Reconcile deposits, write-offs, and bad debt entries.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable, long-term debt, members' equity, revenue, and expense accounts.
  • Complete the company's month-end procedures for each assigned community.
  • Correspond with clients and other interested parties to provide financial information and support.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and supplementary reports.
  • Participate in year-end activities, including audit and tax return preparation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years' experience in real estate bookkeeping; property management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and their application within the property management and real estate industries.
  • Expertise with common technical accounting skills and concepts, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger analysis, accrual basis, cash basis, operating expenditures, and capital expenditures.
  • Experience with property management software; Entrata or RealPage experience preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as the Google platform.
  • Ability to read, analyze, articulate, and compile financial reports used for business correspondence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player and respect those you work with.
  • Ability to adapt to change and new ideas.
