Treatment Plant Operator II

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Treatment Plant Operator II to join our team at American States Utility Services, Inc. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water and wastewater treatment plants.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine treatment plant rounds, inspecting and monitoring plant processes, and documenting findings.
- Operate and adjust treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, and feeders, to maintain optimal plant operations.
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations, including logs and reports, and perform mathematical calculations related to plant activities.
- Mix and apply treatment chemicals, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot plant operations machinery and equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, and online analyzers.
- Collect and document liquid and solid samples, and perform routine water quality laboratory tests.
- Perform general plant facility maintenance, including cleaning, painting, and repairing facilities, and grounds maintenance duties as required.
- Operate heavy equipment, including backhoes, loaders, scrapers, forklifts, dump trucks, and tractor trailer combinations.
- Comply with all OSHA and ASUS safety standards and practices, and participate in special projects, such as construction and maintenance activities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License issued by the state where employed.
- Must take and pass Federal OSHA, US Army Corps of Engineers, and/or State Mandated Safety training, with annual refresher courses.
- Must possess Water or Wastewater Treatment Licenses required for operation of the systems, or have the ability to obtain such certification within 6 months.
- Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to understand basic math and chemistry, and apply knowledge to water/wastewater treatment processes.
- Knowledge and comprehension of safety practices for general construction and handling of all materials used in water and wastewater system operations.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Treatment Plant Operator I or two (2) years of water or wastewater treatment experience.
