Job Title: Patient Service Representative Float

Join The University of Kansas Health System as a Patient Service Representative Float, playing a vital role in creating a seamless patient experience within our ambulatory clinics. As a key member of the physician's care team, you will be responsible for front desk operations, including greeting and checking in patients, answering calls, collecting copays, and processing external medical records.

Responsibilities:
  • Float between various clinics throughout the KC Metro and Health System locations, providing coverage as needed.
  • Schedule internal and external referrals, in-person appointments, telehealth visits, surgeries, and procedures using Epic Cadence decision trees.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of appointment types, locations, providers, and specialties to ensure coordinated patient itineraries.
  • Responsible for patient registration, including demographics, insurance verification, and Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ) completion.
  • Collect point-of-service collections, including copays, co-insurance, and deductibles, and assist patients with MyChart activation and support.
  • Support patient self-check-in using MyChart and the EMR, and ensure proper front desk coverage until the last patient is dismissed.
  • Attend and participate in department clinic daily huddles and process improvement initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with providers and the clinical care team.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in customer service or healthcare experience.
  • 1+ year of experience in customer service skills focusing on problem resolution.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
