Position Overview

The Director of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) will spearhead the initiatives of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur US East-West Province in their mission to advance JPIC concerns. This role will be deeply rooted in the values of St. Julie Billiart, focusing on transformative approaches to address the economic, social, and religious structures in the United States that perpetuate subtle, overt, and harmful inequities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mission Collaboration: Engage in collective efforts through prayer, education, and action.
  • Resource Development: Create impactful tools and materials for key audiences to promote social justice.
  • Networking: Build partnerships with SNDdeN groups across the Province and the Congregation on JPIC-related matters.
  • Alliance Building: Forge connections with other faith communities, particularly on the Province's social justice priorities.
  • Investment Strategies: Review and implement socially responsible investment approaches in collaboration with the Investment Committee.
External Collaboration
  • Establish a national network and represent the Province in partnerships with local, regional, and national organizations advocating for justice, peace, and integrity of creation.
Management of JPIC Initiatives
  • Oversee ongoing JPIC efforts to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate public representation of the Province on justice and peace issues.
  • Engage SNDdeN and Associates in JPIC initiatives.
Community Engagement and Education
  • Facilitate the process for the Province to take positions on relevant issues.
  • Develop educational resources regarding JPIC topics, including position statements and engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Sponsorship Office to provide JPIC-related support for Sponsored Ministries.
  • Work with Mission Advancement colleagues to create opportunities for community engagement in JPIC efforts.
  • Disseminate action alerts to promote awareness and involvement in focused issues.
  • Participate in gatherings to foster clarity and connection to Justice and Peace priorities.
  • Offer presentations and workshops on JPIC issues to stakeholders and the broader community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Services, Justice Studies, Theology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic Social Teachings.
  • Experience in justice, peace, and environmental issues.
  • Familiarity with congregations of women religious and/or faith-based organizations is preferred.
