The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of literacy support specialist within the Hutto ISD area.
This position involves collaborating with a team to deliver targeted literacy intervention instruction to elementary school students in public educational settings.
The role is expected to continue for the duration of the academic year, with opportunities for part-time work or as a rotating substitute. Candidates with experience in educational instruction, including teachers and paraprofessionals, are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students to enhance their reading fluency and comprehension abilities.
- Foster a positive and effective learning atmosphere.
- Receive training to deliver high-quality instruction utilizing lesson plans crafted by the MCPER research team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliability, flexibility, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
- Proficiency in the English language is required.
- Reliable transportation for travel to various school locations is necessary.
- This position is security-sensitive; a criminal background check will be mandatory for all candidates.
- Willingness to travel to designated school sites within Hutto ISD.
- Availability to attend training sessions at the University of Texas campus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree with five years of relevant experience.
- Certified teaching credentials.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational context.
Salary Range
$25/hr
Working Conditions
- Engagement with students in public school classrooms within Hutto ISD.
Work Shift
- Scheduled hours will fall between Monday and Friday.
