Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Senior Estimator to join our team in Irvine, CA. As a key member of our estimating team, you will be responsible for developing detailed estimates, interpreting drawings and specifications, and collaborating with project managers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed material take-offs for estimate development and procurement of bulk materials
  • Assist in the preparation of larger and more complex estimating assignments, including the Estimate Plan
  • Perform all aspects of estimating, including reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, contracts, and Requests-for-Proposals
  • Understand construction means, methods, and sequences, and recognize and apply estimating terminology, measures, concepts, and principles for compiling all types of estimates
  • Develop proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes, and conduct work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria
  • Prepare and/or coordinate preparation of full project estimates, providing complete conceptual and final estimating input, and may provide guidance to less experienced estimating personnel
  • Develop wage rate build-ups, apply the various elements of Shimmick's cost structure, and prepare scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes
  • Prepare subcontract bid analysis of scope and price, develop cash flow schedules and estimates, and manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, plus 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Previous heavy civil construction experience, experience in the Water Industry, and experience with Hard Dollar bidding software
  • Strong problem-solving skills, consistent attention to detail, and ability to work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills, excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
Additional Information

Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test. This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. The salary range for this position is between $145,000 and $200,000 per year, depending on experience and/or education.
