Job Title: Plant Manager

Atkore is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Fort Mill, SC. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for directing and managing plant operations, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality products while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement cost-effective systems to control capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries.
  • Manage capital asset maintenance, including equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure budget targets are met, and develop programs for optimal equipment utilization, labor, and material costs.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment, replacing or adjusting them as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Provide Safety and Health direction and support to personnel, ensuring compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provide direction, development, and leadership to other plant leaders.
  • Demonstrate and promote Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence through actions and decisions.
  • Maintain and be accountable for KPI visual reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities, including GEMBA walks.
  • Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members.
  • Hiring, performance management, and compensation management responsibilities for direct reports.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a minimum of 5 years of plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment or prior success as a Plant Manager or equivalent position at Atkore International.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures required.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of PVC pipe extrusion process preferred.
  • Ability to implement Lean Manufacturing practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Six Sigma / Project Management experience.
  • Excellent written and communications skills.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven experience as a mentor/developmental manager for employees.
  • Available to occasionally work off-shift to provide training and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to all production shifts.
  • Ability to work both as a member of a team, a team leader, or as an individual contributor.
  • Experience managing in a matrixed, mid-to-large organization.

What You'll Achieve:
  • Within 3 months, you'll complete your Atkore Immersion, understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy, complete any required training, gain an understanding of your team, develop relationships with key stakeholders, and be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
  • Within 6 months, you'll maintain and be accountable for KPI visual reporting, create and modify standardized work, and ensure consistent application by all team members, as well as hiring, performance management, and compensation management responsibilities for direct reports.
  • Within 12 months, you'll be managing an efficient plant and team that delivers Atkore's strategy, have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports, and be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.
