Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer III

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Electrical Power Systems Hardware Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the electrical power systems for our spacecraft. Your expertise will help us create safe, reliable, and efficient power systems that enable our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead high and low voltage, avionic designs that interact with electrical power consumers.
  • Own the design, analysis, prototyping, and testing of electrical power systems, from concept to production.
  • Support power regulation and distribution architecture trade studies, analyses, and performance characterization.
  • Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance, and safety initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Familiarity with common communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.
  • Ability to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Successful candidates typically have 5 to 10 years of experience in design, development, test, and operation of vehicle Avionics systems.
  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications.
  • Demonstrated experience designing high reliability safety-critical, Class 2/3 board assemblies; familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254 and similar standards.
