Job Summary

We are seeking skilled individuals to join our Salem District Structure & Bridge Team as Bridge Maintenance Technicians. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing bridge maintenance and construction-related tasks, including operating light to medium-duty equipment, forming footers, abutments, and wing walls, and placing and finishing concrete.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform bridge maintenance and construction-related tasks, including operating light to medium-duty equipment
  • Form footers, abutments, and wing walls, and place and finish concrete
  • Erect steel beam structures, install timber and concrete bridge decks
  • Complete pre-trip inspections and demonstrate proper jobsite protection techniques
  • Work at heights, over and in water, in heavy traffic, and under other adverse conditions
Requirements
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor
  • Knowledge of highway and bridge maintenance methods, equipment, materials, and safety practices
  • Skill in the operation and use of light and medium-duty equipment, as well as in the use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations to measure and lay out constructed elements on bridges and culverts
  • Safety shoes required
  • Ability to obtain CDL and DOT medical card within 11 months of employment and maintain thereafter
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in carpentry, building forms and false works, and concrete placement and finishing
  • Experience with light to medium-duty equipment and hand and power tools
  • Experience in bridge maintenance or construction
  • Valid Certified Crane Operator with appropriate endorsements
  • A combination of training, experience, or education in Construction or related field desired
