Fleet Mechanic Job Description

Hillsborough Transit Authority - HART is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing mid-level maintenance and repair on transit buses, mechanical equipment, and/or automotive vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on transit buses and other vehicles, including engine adjustments, braking systems, and electrical and hydraulic components.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting inspections to identify potential issues and ensure safe operation of vehicles.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience in automotive servicing and maintenance, with a focus on heavy vehicle repair.
  • ASE certification in diesel repair and/or other relevant areas.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures and noise levels.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
