Emergency Room Admitting Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled Admitting Representative to join our team at Guidehouse. As an Admitting Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients and their families, ensuring accurate and efficient registration and check-in processes, and collecting necessary patient information and insurance documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform accurate and efficient registration and check-in processes, ensuring that all necessary patient information and insurance documentation is collected and verified.
- Collect and verify patient signatures and information at the time of arrival, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
- Escalate any advanced or complex registrations to a more experienced team member, ensuring that all patients receive the highest level of care and service.
- Perform real-time insurance eligibility and benefits verification for all patients, ensuring that all necessary information is collected and verified.
- Verify insurance benefits and explain financial requirements to patients and their families, collecting any outstanding patient portion at the point of service.
- Perform collections and cashiering functions, referring patients to Financial Counseling as needed.
- Ensure that all activities related to hospital collection activities meet department requirements, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
- Work assigned shifts at hospital Emergency Admitting departments, including 12-hour shifts, 8-hour shifts, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts as assigned, with some holiday and weekend work as needed.
- Serve as preceptors/trainers to orientees, providing guidance and support to new team members.
- Serve as a mentor to new associates, assisting in new employee orientation and providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Perform Inpatient Admission Admitting duties, including determining in and out of network benefits, reviewing the EMR Inpatient status tracking feature, and attaining Important Message for Medicare patient signatures.
- Perform carve outs as it relates to observation admission services, determining in and out of network benefits, reviewing the EMR Observation status tracking feature, and attaining patient signatures as they relate to observation patient stays.
- Consistently exceed weekly individual goals and standards, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and quality in all aspects of the job.
- High School graduate with diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One (1) year or more of experience working in a hospital, clinical, medical setting or in a customer service environment
- One (1) year of hospital Patient Access experience
- One (1) year of Customer Service experience
- Data Entry experience
- Familiarity with Health Plans/Insurances
- Bilingual (English & Spanish)
