Position Overview
This role focuses on the precise calibration of electro-mechanical instruments. The technician will conduct calibration tasks at various locations, including mechanical rooms and laboratory settings.
Key Responsibilities
The following are the main duties associated with this position:
- Conduct calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs as needed, along with data collection and report generation for a diverse array of dimensional, electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical measuring and test equipment (M&TE).
- Utilize established internal protocols and industry standards, as well as manufacturer guidelines, for effective calibration and troubleshooting of M&TE.
- Develop, maintain, and implement calibration procedures for different types of instrumentation and equipment.
- Adhere to company protocols, client-specific procedures, and all necessary documentation requirements.
- Complete essential documentation to validate the verification and calibration of M&TE.
- Employ various diagnostic tools and standard equipment to identify malfunctions in M&TE.
- Provide insights for enhancing calibration processes.
- Manage time effectively to maximize productivity.
- Exhibit strong customer service skills in both written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.
- Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and comply with company policies and standard operating procedures (SOP).
- Assist in assessing calibration vendors based on quality and expertise, and monitor their performance.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or a related field; or formal training in Metrology, completion of Precision Measurement Equipment Course (PMEL); or a minimum of 5 years of Metrology experience is highly preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and database applications (data entry, not programming).
Strong organizational skills and competency in record-keeping and database management.
Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
Commitment to ongoing professional development in instrument calibration methods and exceptional customer service.
Attention to detail and conscientiousness regarding work quality.
Self-directed and highly motivated, with the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with customers.
Working Conditions
Work environments may include GXP settings, office spaces, calibration laboratories, and various client locations.
Physical Requirements
Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
Participate in internal and external audits as a subject matter expert.
Collaborate with management to set goals for expanding internal calibration capabilities.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Willingness to travel to client locations is required.
