Job Summary

Conducts comprehensive speech and language assessments, tests, or evaluations to identify and formulate treatment plans for clients/patients/residents experiencing various speech and swallowing challenges.

Evaluates clients/patients/residents with diverse speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing issues and creates tailored treatment strategies based on clinical findings. Provides speech and language services to clients/patients/residents; monitors progress and modifies treatments as necessary.

Guides clients/patients/residents in executing speech and language therapeutic exercises; offers consultation for those navigating speech and language treatment processes.

Ensures compliance with all speech and language standards, policies, protocols, and quality benchmarks.

May provide care to individuals across all age groups with differing diagnoses and disorders. Demonstrates thorough documentation in line with departmental standards and meets all regulatory obligations. Exhibits a level of treatment consistent with their area of expertise provided to clients/patients/residents. Adheres to accepted clinical practice guidelines established by professional organizations.

Demonstrates adaptability to variable work schedules and assignments. Engages in initiatives to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health.

Will interact with various stakeholders outside the department, including but not limited to:
providers, case managers, third-party payers, public organizations, etc. May supervise assistants, aides, and students in delivering client/patient/resident care, treatment, or other services.

Expected to provide ongoing education and training to colleagues in areas of expertise as determined by departmental leadership.

Performs additional related duties as assigned by management.

Depending on the assigned area, work may focus on individuals receiving intervention in post-acute, long-term care, and home health care settings when applicable.



Qualifications
Required education level in accordance with state licensure.

Must hold a valid license in the state(s) of practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not mandatory but preferred by GSS Facilities): Possesses a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or is currently engaged in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).


May require a valid driver's license when applicable.

Maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications. Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
