Job Summary:
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to support the implementation of Spartans Thrive, a university-wide, holistic health and wellness initiative for students. The successful candidate will work closely with the Associate Vice Provost for Retention & Student Success to coordinate mentoring programs, plan and implement co-curricular programs and events, and develop curriculum modules for undergraduate general education courses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate a mentoring program that involves recruiting, training, and matching mentors with mentees.
- Plan and implement co-curricular programs and events in all eight wellness dimensions.
- Develop curriculum modules for undergraduate general education courses to integrate health and wellness topics.
- Assist in the coordination of committee meetings and events, and handle other administrative and partnership efforts.
- Create marketing and outreach materials, help lead the student engagement aspect of the project, and assist with website content development.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate flexibility.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build professional rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and demonstrate a willingness to seek understanding and strengthen multicultural competence.
- Effective time management skills and self-initiative.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in small group presentations with students, staff, and faculty.
Working Conditions:
The Graduate Assistant will work 20 hours per week, during office hours, which are generally Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. but can include evening hours for student programming. The supervisor will work with the graduate assistant to accommodate their academic course schedule.
