Job OverviewRhenus Automotive Salem, LLC is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Safety Specialist to develop and implement a comprehensive safety program for our state-of-the-art automotive production facility in Salem, VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with our workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a formal safety program that promotes accident prevention and safety awareness.
  • Conduct annual risk and ergonomic assessments of all workstations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate safety incidents and accidents, define corrective actions, and prepare written incident reports.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in safety, security, and ergonomics and drive initiatives for implementation.
  • Record information on accidents and incidents in our electronic safety platform and ensure the database is up to date.
  • Prepare OSHA reporting, including the annual OSHA log 300, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the OSHA Representative in investigations and ensure implementation of findings and stipulations.
  • File workers' compensation claims and collaborate with HR to provide modified duty assignments for injured workers.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and internal safety policies and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Assertive and able to enforce safety and company policies with all levels of the organization.
  • Empathic and active listener with the ability to relate to individuals from different backgrounds and situations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate various situations.
  • Manufacturing experience of at least 6 years in various positions, such as supervisory roles, auditing, or maintenance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an OSHA role or other safety position.
