Role Summary: As a Senior Pipeline Engineer in Austin, you will play a crucial role in supporting expansion initiatives for Texas Gas Service across various regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and execute advanced engineering tasks. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and overseeing the construction of pipeline systems and related components
  • Developing measurement and regulation facilities
  • Managing compressor stations and dehydration facilities

Calculate gas storage requirements, prioritize gas purchases, assess compressor performance, and conduct gas flow evaluations. Collaborate with various departments and contractors on:

  • Bid submissions and contractual agreements
  • Pipeline extensions and relocations
  • Construction projects

Oversee gas projects that encompass residential, industrial, and large-scale commercial developments, as well as significant system upgrades and infrastructure relocations.

Manage pipeline integrity processes; plan, coordinate, and execute necessary testing while ensuring all documentation is collected.

Work closely with the Divisional Engineering Pipeline Integrity manager to manage modifications to the Transmission Pipelines.

Provide technical expertise and support to management, staff, regulatory bodies, contractors, and clients on:

  • Meter and regulator configurations
  • Equipment and system designs
  • Pipeline dimensions
  • Gas control mechanisms
  • Design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas facilities
  • Policies and procedures
  • Quality assurance and compliance processes

Conduct research, analysis, and preparation of documentation including:

  • Engineering assessments
  • Regulatory compliance documents
  • Pipeline bid submissions
  • Construction agreements
  • Gas procurement contracts
  • Cost evaluations
  • Material specifications
  • Purchase requests
  • Reports on lost and unaccounted gas

Offer technical support, make informed recommendations, and oversee the integration and application of technical and software systems such as:

  • GIS/AutoCAD
  • GPS technology
  • Compliance software
  • SynerGEE
  • Measurement software

Guide junior staff members and may have direct reports.

Regular attendance is essential for this role.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering with prior experience in a similar role.

Proficient in analyzing piping schematics to ensure adherence to established standards and regulations.

Skilled in mathematical applications, including algebra, calculus, and statistics.

Experience with office technologies and software such as GIS, AutoCAD, SynerGEE, and advanced Excel functions.

Knowledge and training in:

  • Pipeline operations
  • Safety and operational protocols
  • Policies regarding pipeline extensions and relocations
  • Investigating material failures
  • Pipeline stress analyses
  • Industry construction standards

Ability to identify, research, and prioritize operational challenges, coordinating appropriate responses.

Experience in drafting pipeline construction contracts, budgets, and engineering studies.

Proficient in interpreting regulations, blueprints, contracts, and technical documents.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to oversee and delegate tasks effectively.

Experience in evaluating new products and processes.

Capability to develop and present information to various audiences.

Fluency in English is required.

Preferred: Successful completion of the Professional Engineer Exam or holding a relevant license.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Willingness to travel as necessary for job responsibilities.
