Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Operations Specialist to oversee technical accounting operations, provide support for annual audits, and ensure tax and regulatory compliance for our North American operations. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in both IFRS and US GAAP, experience managing complex accounting processes, and a thorough understanding of North American tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Oversight of IFRS and US GAAP compliance, providing expertise on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, financial reporting, employee stock option accounting, and other technical accounting matters.
    • Management of the implementation of new accounting standards and policies, ensuring timely and accurate adoption.
    • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Annual Audit:
    • Leadership and coordination of the external audit process, working closely with auditors to ensure timely and successful completion.
    • Preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and supporting documents for annual audits.
    • Addressing auditor queries and providing necessary explanations and documentation for all audit-related activities.
  • Tax and Compliance:
    • Ownership of tax and compliance workstreams, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including preparation and review of tax filings (income tax, sales tax, etc.).
    • Closely working with external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.
    • Management of North American tax planning strategies, ensuring the company minimizes tax liabilities and maximizes opportunities for tax credits and incentives.
    • Staying current on changes to tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and providing recommendations to management for necessary adjustments.
    • Assistance in overseeing regulatory compliance, ensuring that all filings are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Support with the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
    • Review of final Payroll reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
    • Assistance in managing the day-to-day accounting functions, including oversight of junior accounting staff.
    • Maintenance of compliance with internal policies and relevant external regulations.
