Job Title: Junior Buyer

LSI Industries Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Buyer to join our team in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Job Summary

The Junior Buyer will be responsible for supporting our procurement team with purchasing activities, analyzing material planning requirements, and maintaining an adequate supply of materials to meet production needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze material planning requirements and maintain appropriate levels of materials and supplies in stock.
  • Order, reschedule, or cancel raw materials from suppliers based on material requirements in JDE with the use of Material Requirement Planning (MRP).
  • Maintain an adequate supply of materials to keep all production areas working and minimize obsolete and excess material inventory levels.
  • Maintain all supplier-related sections of the MRP, including supplier information, pricing, lead times, safety stocks, and payment and freight terms.
  • Contact suppliers regarding material problems, such as delayed receipt, poor quality, or wrong items, and resolve issues as required.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality supplier relations.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of purchased goods and services by working closely with suppliers and internal operations.
  • Communicate with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics, and inventory control and management.
  • Communicate information through written or verbal reports, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations to superiors, peers, and other affected functions.
  • Achieve maximum integration with other departments to improve material standardization, make-or-buy decisions, alternate sources or material options, quality, price, and delivery issues.
  • Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
  • Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items.
  • Estimate values according to knowledge of market price.
  • Maintain procurement records, including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, suppliers, and others to determine the source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Participate in additional projects or services as directed.
Requirements
  • Four (4) year college degree with a major in Operations, Business, or Procurement preferred.
  • Specific purchasing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
