Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join our team at Michelman. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing sourcing and procurement activities with a focus on improving efficiency and accuracy within the procurement team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Maintain an efficient procurement system to supply cost-effective materials and services to support the company's operations.
  2. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  3. Create and review opportunities on alternative materials and/or suppliers to meet business unit objectives in procurement activities and deliver best values and business savings.
  4. Maintain system integrity in the ERP system, ensure procurement policy, guidelines, and any associated documents are in place and updated when required.
  5. Collaborate with our technology to understand our company needs as well as work with our existing/new suppliers to determine company strategic alignment.
  6. Understand the trend of raw material/feedstock related, update the information to commercial team, provide analysis on costs, new, and cost savings activities.
  7. Develop strong partnerships with suppliers.
  8. Work with suppliers and have a process in place to measure effective performance, quality, and compliance.
  9. Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance. Work collaboratively, negotiate, and engage with stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the procurement strategy.
  10. Contribute and communicate the impact on procurement activities to business/stakeholders when situations arise like market change and potential effects on supply.
  11. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.
  12. Partner with Regulatory Affairs on import and export operations, ensure the processes comply with local and respective country regulations.
  13. Support the department in achieving long and short-range business plans and goals.
  14. Interface with global functional teams in procurement, manufacturing, and supply chain, as required.
  15. Conduct yearly suppliers' performance to monitor the vendor performance (on-site/off-site), attend meetings assigned and ad-hoc meetings.
  16. Participate in supply-related projects.
  17. Handle all raw material claims, returns, and feedback.
  18. Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

  8. Proficient working with an ERP system.
  9. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  10. Willingness to work in a team environment.
  11. Excellent judgment (technology/business) and calculated risk-taking.
  12. Must have the ability to make decisions even in critical situations and under time pressure.
  13. Dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective project management, leadership skills, change management.
  14. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  15. Possess strong business acumen.
  16. Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
Education and Experience

Degree in business management or its equivalent, Chemistry or Supply Chain a plus. More than 4 years of relevant experience in direct material procurement in chemicals or chemicals-related industry. Manufacturing work setting and sourcing of direct materials will be advantageous. Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Possess strong organizational skills.

Ability to travel to Michelman's site globally as needed.
