Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operation of the Maintenance Department. This includes ensuring the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner, in accordance with current local, state, and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement maintenance programs and activities
  • Conduct regular rounds of the facility to ensure quality control and safety
  • Inspect and repair equipment, including air conditioning and heating units, pump stations, and electrical outlets
  • Interpret departmental policies and procedures to employees, patients, visitors, and government agencies
  • Complete forms, reports, and evaluations to ensure control of equipment and supplies
  • Submit accident and incident reports
  • Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, and utility closets for upkeep, supply control, and safety
  • Review and develop plans of correction for maintenance deficiencies
  • Delegate responsibilities to staff members and provide work direction and problem-solving
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and classifying routine and job-related maintenance functions
  • Review departmental complaints and grievances and make written reports of action to be taken
  • Serve on related committees and report on maintenance services as required
  • Inventory and request needed supplies to perform assigned tasks
  • Recognize and respond to maintenance emergencies and document observations, interventions, and outcomes
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to patients, employees, and facility
  • Follow established universal precautions and isolation procedures
  • Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in patients' personal and health care needs

Requirements:

  • One (1) year experience in a maintenance/plant supervisory position
  • Technical degree in maintenance field, to include electrical, mechanical, and general construction
  • Communication skills and active listening
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Includes both climate-controlled and extreme temperatures
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort; lifting to sixty-five (65) pounds is required
  • Frequent walking or standing required
  • Noise level is minimal

Required Safety Expectations:

  • Working safely and following safety rules
  • Reporting unsafe working conditions and behaviors
  • Taking reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving for other workers
  • Supervisor frequently determines priorities
  • Occasionally needs manager's direction due to extraordinary circumstances
