The state-supported living centers cater to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those who are medically fragile or exhibit behavioral challenges.

The centers deliver campus-based direct services and support across 13 locations statewide.

The Active Treatment Coordinator operates under the direct supervision of the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor, functioning with moderate oversight and the ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.

The Active Treatment Coordinator engages in moderately complex human services support tasks, including but not limited to:

Organizing and coordinating leisure activities tailored to the interests and age appropriateness of individuals served, ensuring these activities are meaningful in achieving their personal goals.

Monitoring the provision of diverse, high-quality leisure opportunities both on campus and within the local community.

Providing relevant information to individuals served and responsible staff regarding available activities on and off campus.

Following up with individuals served and staff to ensure the quality of activities and services, adjusting them as necessary to better align with individual needs and preferences.

Preparing and submitting feedback reports to the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor regarding ongoing monitoring of activities and services provided.

Collaborating closely with the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor and Recreation Program Manager. Maintaining inventory and ordering recreational supplies for each home within their assigned unit. Developing innovative and engaging ideas to ensure individuals are involved in meaningful and functional activities. Monitoring scheduled activities to guarantee the quality delivery of active treatment services. This role may require operating a state-owned vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is essential, and the role may involve specific shift schedules, rotating shifts, extended hours, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policies, along with other assigned duties.


Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with individuals served, their families, friends, and colleagues.

Coordinate activities for individuals residing at the State Supported Living Center that align with their functional capabilities.

Provide oversight during activities, ensuring quality active treatment and services that meet individual satisfaction.


Prepare written documentation and reports regarding the monitoring of activities and outcomes of observations, quarterly or as requested.

Maintain professional and effective communication with the Active Treatment Coordinator Supervisor, Recreational Program Manager, and Home Managers.

Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and resources for functional and appropriate activities.

Assist as needed in transporting individuals during scheduled activities and in emergency situations.

Inspect workspaces and equipment for safety hazards, taking corrective action as necessary and reporting unsafe conditions to the immediate supervisor.

Additional duties may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may require alternate shift patterns and/or locations.


Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to make informed decisions and exercise sound judgment in critical situations.
Ability to respond swiftly and calmly in emergencies.
Ability to demonstrate proper body mechanics, good posture, and safe lifting techniques.
Knowledge of individual care techniques and treatment, therapy, and developmental programs, or the ability to learn these through training.

Ability to provide individual care, administer first aid and/or CPR, perform Ukeru (once trained), and conduct Safe Use of Restraint (SUR).

Ability to communicate effectively and mentor others.
Ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team.
