Electrode Engineering Team Lead

Form Energy, Inc. is a pioneering energy technology and manufacturing company that is revolutionizing the way we store energy. We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Electrode Design and Performance team in Somerville, MA.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in materials engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience. They will be responsible for managing and growing a world-class team of engineers who design and validate our electrodes.

The Electrode Design and Performance team is a multidisciplinary group that works closely with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, design for manufacturability, cost, and reliability. The team is responsible for characterizing, testing, and creating specifications for new electrode materials and processes.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on practical experience with electrochemical system design, strong technical communication skills, and the ability to lead, manage, and mentor direct reports. They will be a key member of our team and will play a critical role in scaling our multi-day energy storage system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and grow a world-class team of engineers who design and validate our electrodes
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, DFM, cost, and reliability
  • Work with consulting companies, vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high-volume production
  • Drive verification testing of your team's design work
Requirements:
  • Degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; with 7+ years of industry experience
  • Experience taking a storage product from concept through mass-production
  • Hands-on practical experience with electrochemical system design
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and mentoring direct reports
  • Strong technical communication skills, especially with external parties and across internal functional teams
