Job DescriptionIllinois Workers in Action is seeking a dedicated and socially aware individual to fill the position of Program Coordinator for the Community Navigators Immigrant Legal Support Program. This full-time role spans 10 months and is ideal for someone committed to promoting racial and economic justice for workers of color and immigrants. The Program Coordinator's primary responsibilities include managing and supervising all aspects of the Community Navigators Immigrant Legal Support Program to ensure effective coordination and support for the navigators in achieving their objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff to initiate and supervise the Immigrant Legal Support Program.
  • Coordinate the efforts of Community Navigators to link individuals with suitable services and enhance collaboration among service providers.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of navigator activities.
  • Compile and submit monthly programmatic and financial reports.
  • Monitor program data and support the team in reporting endeavors.
  • Attend all Legal Clinics organized by partner institutions, managing the involvement of Community Navigators.
  • Facilitate connections between individuals, families, immigration service providers, community partners, government agencies, and pro bono lawyers through established referral networks.
  • Deliver informative presentations and workshops to immigrant communities in Chicago, Lake County, and the Western Suburbs, sharing insights on available resources.
  • Accompany individuals to workshops and legal clinics, aid in document preparation, and follow up on their progress.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of IWA's organizing vision, strategy, and campaigns.
  • Develop and conduct workshops for Community Navigators, offering continuous training and resource updates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social, faith, economic, and racial/ethnic backgrounds.
  • 1-2 years' experience with or in a non-profit community-based organization or law firm. Knowledge of worker and immigrant rights issues.
  • Proficiency in computer use for documentation, reporting, and communication purposes.
  • Prior experience with immigration intake or understanding of immigration legal services preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English required for strong written and verbal communication abilities for interpretation and correspondence.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet established timelines and goals.
  • Valid driver's license, access to a car, and ability to travel in Chicagoland and Suburban areas.
  • Excellent organization and analytical abilities.
  • Willingness to have a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
