Job Summary

We are seeking a bilingual Mortgage Loan Assistant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer care to mortgage loan applicants and realtors, and will assist with loan application processing, administrative tasks, and communication with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track outstanding items with mortgage applications and follow up with borrowers to ensure timely receipt of necessary documentation.
  • Upload loan files into the loan origination system.
  • Maintain effective communication with applicants, third parties, and internal staff on loan status, follow-up, and/or documentation requests, loan completion, and funding of loans.
  • Assist mortgage loan officers and processors with other related or administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the facilitation of closing loans with mortgage closers.
  • Compile and complete reports as assigned.
  • Work with mortgage loan processors on loan applications in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor workflow to assure timely processing of loans.
  • Actively cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
  • Assist and support management by performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma and 2 years of experience in customer service or equivalent related experience.
  • Strong commitment to Self-Help's mission of creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Sensitivity to issues of low-wealth borrowers and a desire to work in a racially and socially diverse organization.
  • Well-organized self-starter with strong communications and computer skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of related legal and regulatory standards and required loan documentation.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
