Job Summary
We are seeking a Licensed Counselor to join our team as an Intake Specialist. As an Intake Specialist, you will provide in-person risk assessments to assist physicians in identifying the appropriate level of care for potential patients. You will be the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinating the referral and intake process, facilitating the admission process, and maintaining communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-person risk assessments to assist physicians in identifying the appropriate level of care for potential patients
- Coordinate the referral and intake process
- Facilitate the admission process
- Maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff
- Work with the Business Office regarding patient financial data and verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed
- Work with the Utilization Review Department for the certification of patients admitted
Requirements
- Registered Nurse or Master's Degree in a human relations or other related field
- Preferably two or more years of experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, including customer contact
- Licensed to practice in the State of Texas as a mental health professional (RN, LMSW, LCSW, LPC, or LPCI)
- Working knowledge of the DSM-IV and the Mental Status Exam
- Working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field
