Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Technician to join our Arlington, VA location. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the function and operations of our treatment program, ensuring the smooth and efficient administration of care while maintaining the quality and integrity of services we provide. This role requires a solution-focused attitude and outlook, with a commitment to patient care and a willingness to work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities
  • Develop a treatment alliance with patients that is mutual, collaborative, and individualized, meeting changing clinical needs throughout treatment.
  • Assist in the admissions of patients, including orientation, intake assessment, urine screen, protocols, and recurring assessments.
  • Interact positively with patients at all times, providing support through case management, morning contacts, and encouraging patient engagement.
  • Facilitate program activities and assist in maintaining patients' schedules.
  • Facilitate addiction and/or mental health psychotherapy groups in OTP, IOP, and OP.
  • Provide individual mental health-focused and addictions-focused counseling sessions when indicated.
  • Prepare and present addiction/recovery education presentations to all patients.
  • Engage in case management sessions, including collaborative treatment goals, discharge planning, and partnership with referral sources and/or other providers.
  • Promote the organization's image in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide direct care for more than 50-65% of weekly work hours.
  • Work with medical staff, clinical staff, and clinical supervisor to meet the co-occurring psychiatric needs of patients.
  • Maintain timely and well-written documentation that meets state and CARF standards.
  • Obtain signatures from licensed therapist/supervisor for documents requiring a second signature.
  • Attend and be prepared for professional meetings, including treatment team.
  • Complete discharges within 48 hours of patient completing services.
  • Assist as needed in Crisis Intervention.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong clinical, verbal, and writing skills.
  • Engaging with patients while promoting and maintaining accountability.
  • Flexible and creative team player.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a program that will grow and expand over the next several years.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in the SUD and MH field. Group psychotherapy experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience and comfort with working in an electronic medical record.
  • Knowledgeable in various recovery modalities, including SMART Recovery, Women for Sobriety, 12-Step, Recovery Dharma, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in various psychotherapy modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, co-occurring disorders, etc.

  • Master's degree in human services field (Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Behavioral, etc.).
