Job Overview

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the company, including monthly financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, audits, and tax compliance. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and driving continuous improvement in financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the General Accounting, Accounts Payable, and Payroll department managers.
  • Oversee and manage General Ledger, Income Statement, and Balance Sheet components, including reconciliations, journal entries, and physical inventories.
  • Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines for accounting and financial reports are met.
  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of monthly variance analysis of actual operating results versus budgeted amounts.
  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of work papers for annual audits and tax returns.
  • Manage all components of annual, quarterly, and required tax accruals and payments.
  • Supervise associates, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
  • Drive improvement in business performance through effective cost control, monitoring, and reporting systems, with an emphasis on profitability and cash flow.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of all financial systems and procedures, implementing changes to increase accuracy, control, and timely reporting utilizing the recently implemented ERP system.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting required.
  • Working knowledge of Viewpoint/Vista software application preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to read, analyze, and process complex financial statements and documents.
  • Advanced Excel skills required; knowledge of Tableau and Crystal Report a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal English communication and presentation skills required.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to drive process improvements and manage change effectively.

This role operates in an office and professional environment. The job may occasionally require going out in the field and visiting various organizations and schools/institutions. Mostly sedentary work outside of travel, requiring the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing as necessary.
