Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. As a Technical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our laboratory operations, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our testing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and label specimen slides, including Gram stains, peripheral blood smears, and bone marrow aspirations.
  • Manage laboratory supply inventory and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare, assess, and document reagents and controls.
  • Load specimens onto automated processors and perform waived tests across the department.
  • Perform analyzer calibrations and quality control for test systems.
  • Understand and follow resulting guidelines, including critical values, delta checks, and triaging STAT results.
  • Set up specimen plates in Microbiology and visually inspect specimens for quality.
  • Answer the pneumatic tube system and log specimens into the lab information system.
  • Distribute specimens to testing areas within the laboratory.
  • Perform clerical duties, including short-registration, order entry, scanning, and filing orders for patients and specimens.
  • Investigate and resolve problems on orders and specimens.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous hospital laboratory experience preferred.
  • Basic clerical skills, including typing, filing, medical terminology, and computer literacy.
  • Previous lab experience and/or medical background preferred.
  • Able to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Punctual attendance at assigned work location required.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident-free work place.
