Position Summary
The role of the Patient Services Specialist is essential in supporting the Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee. This position involves managing patient appointments, overseeing front desk registration, facilitating patient check-out, maintaining accurate records, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently schedule patient appointments and adhere to established scheduling protocols.
- Maintain up-to-date patient information and confirm demographic details.
- Provide patients with necessary documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage front office supplies effectively, ensuring purchases are budget-conscious.
- Accurately enter IT and maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Collect daily deposits from relevant departments.
- Assist in onboarding and training new hires; support colleagues during downtime.
- Ensure adequate coverage at the reception area during staff absences.
- Collaborate with the Office Coordinator/Director to address front office challenges; participate in departmental meetings.
- Oversee patient check-in/out processes and respond to inquiries regarding scheduling, co-pays, and insurance.
- Maintain open communication with all staff members, fostering a professional and constructive environment.
- Uphold a professional appearance and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Qualifications
Formal Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of one year in a medical office setting with strong communication skills.
Skills: Proficient in using office equipment, including computers, printers, and telecommunication devices.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, and communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
