About the Opportunity

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a seasoned Chief Development Officer to drive the growth and sustainability of our organization through strategic fundraising and community engagement. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a crucial role in expanding our impact and building a culture of philanthropy across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans, prioritizing annual campaigns, capital campaigns, and special initiatives to meet organizational goals.
  • Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, collaborating with senior staff and Board members to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts.
  • Lead the development team in creating and executing fundraising strategies, leveraging relationships with donors, foundations, and corporate partners to drive results.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to establish and implement fundraising policies, priorities, and messaging that align with the YMCA's mission and vision.
  • Serve as a lead ambassador for the organization, elevating the profile of the Y among prospective donors and partners through strategic messaging and community engagement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with advanced degree and CFRE certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in leading fundraising efforts, with a proven track record of success in securing six-figure grants and other funding opportunities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and build lasting relationships with donors and partners.
  • Strategic and innovative thinker, with the ability to develop and implement creative fundraising strategies that drive results.

The salary range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
