Job Summary

The Senior NICU Department Head will be responsible for overseeing the 24-hour delivery of nursing services, ensuring safe patient care, and maintaining high standards of quality and clinical excellence. This role involves collaborating with Nursing Leadership to develop strategic plans, monitoring department budgets, and improving the quality of care.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of nursing services to meet or exceed cost, quality, and clinical standards.
  • Establish and maintain patient care and service standards, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Leadership to develop strategic plans for integrated services.
  • Monitor department budgets, identify strategies to reduce costs, and improve quality of care.
  • Determine appropriate staff mix, screen, hire, train, and ensure ongoing staff development.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage and resolve human resource and risk management issues.
  • Promote an organizational culture of safety, ensuring adherence to standards and guidelines.
  • Participate in leadership committees and forums at Medical Center, Regional, and/or National levels.
Requirements
  • California RN license.
  • American Heart Association BLS.
  • BSN or MSN.
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time equivalent Level III NICU experience. Experience must be current or very recent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time equivalent Level III Manager or Supervisor experience. Charge Nurse experience does not meet this requirement. Experience must be current and very recent.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $148,800 – $192,500 per year, and excellent comprehensive benefits. A sign-on bonus of 10% of the annual salary is also available.
