Sierra Vista Child & Family Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join our team.

Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled educator to create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students outside of the traditional public school system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement educational programs tailored to the needs of diverse student populations, fostering intellectual, social, and emotional growth.
  2. Collaborate closely with parents, administrators, and clinicians to assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching strategies to promote academic achievement.
  3. Oversee classroom staff by providing coaching and professional development, performance assessments, and managing the timesheet review and approval processes.
  4. Initiate and facilitate weekly planning and department meetings with co-teachers.
  5. Develop and implement educational programs, curriculums, and homework assignments, adjusting as needed in coordination with school staff and clinicians to align with treatment plans.
  6. Set up interest centers with the necessary activities/supplies/lesson plans for each child.
  7. Completion of incident reports in the event of runaways, accidents, containments, or severe property damage.
  8. Responsible for collaborating and coordinating in the development of all programs required reports and required meetings.
  9. Responsible for writing individual educational plan (I.E.P.) for each child, in conjunction with the I.E.P. team.
  10. Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
  11. Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
  12. Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.
  13. Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree and California Special Education Teaching Credential preferred or eligible for short-term permit based on California Department of Education requirements.
  2. One year's experience in a classroom setting preferred.
  3. Effective conceptualization and communication skills.
  4. A valid California driver's license is required of staff who have regular driving duties and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency's insurance company.
