Position Overview:

The Credit Officer at Natixis plays a crucial role in the second line of defense, primarily focusing on the assessment and review of the bank's commercial real estate lending portfolio. This independent risk oversight function is essential for evaluating credit risk transactions proposed by the business unit, ensuring thorough analysis and providing constructive feedback before recommendations are made to the Credit Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and maintain productive relationships with various business unit contacts to prioritize the onboarding process for new counterparties.
  • Oversee and manage the existing portfolio of commercial real estate transactions, preparing analytical reports and presentations while staying informed on industry trends and macroeconomic factors that may influence the portfolio.
  • Deliver presentations to senior management and internal stakeholders regarding credit risk assessments and portfolio performance.
  • Ensure comprehensive ownership of the credit process, including adherence to policies, procedures, and controls. This encompasses:
    • Compliance with established delegation authorities.
    • Adherence to lending policies and guidelines.
    • Review and validation of internal credit rating models and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Conduct in-depth credit analysis and risk evaluations, focusing primarily on Sponsor counterparties.
  • Participate actively in the management of the Credit Risk group, sharing insights and contributing to the overall risk culture.
  • Engage in the development and periodic review of policies and limit frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Propose risk mitigation strategies on both individual and portfolio levels as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, with exposure to CMBS, structured finance, and CRE warehouse lending.
  • Strong understanding of commercial real estate transactions and credit underwriting processes.
  • Familiarity with loan workouts and special servicing is advantageous.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of establishing credibility with senior management and deal team executives.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, coupled with robust credit, analytical, and modeling skills.
  • Knowledge of internal credit rating models and risk monitoring systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Argus (or equivalent), along with experience in database management.

Compensation:

The salary range for the Associate position is between $120,000 - $135,000, while the VP position ranges from $140,000 - $185,000.
