Catapult is seeking a skilled Transportation Planning Engineer III to join our dynamic Transportation Division. This position will involve guiding junior planners, engaging directly with clients, and overseeing project timelines. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of high-quality planning services and documentation for various municipal and state projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure project timelines are met while adhering to budget constraints.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of planning tasks that align with project objectives, including the creation of planning documents, surveys, reports, and the facilitation of public and steering committee meetings.
- Organize and conduct field observations and data collection efforts.
- Formulate project strategies that outline milestones, suitable planning methodologies, stakeholder engagement, timelines, and overall project goals.
- Evaluate technical challenges, assessing the viability of proposed methods and developing innovative solutions.
- Manage projects by collaborating with clients, directing the planning process, and coordinating with the project team, which may encompass various disciplines.
- Work with clients to establish work programs and budgets, providing leadership in project planning and strategy, including oversight, management, implementation, and ensuring the quality of deliverables.
- Complete tasks accurately in accordance with established planning standards and practices.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and communicate progress on assigned responsibilities.
- Secure and oversee successful, profitable projects.
- Engage in professional industry organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Comprehensive knowledge of transportation engineering principles, concepts, and methodologies necessary for the planning, design, and engineering of infrastructure such as highways, streets, bridges, and multi-modal facilities.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations, laws, and professional standards pertaining to transportation.
- Understanding of terminology and procedures within the A/E/C industry.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in planning or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation planning.
- Experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering setting.
- Proficiency in GIS software is essential.
- Experience with NEPA/SEPA processes is required.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Credentials from the American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP) or a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) are highly desirable.
- Experience with NCDOT projects is advantageous.
