Job Title: Transportation Engineering Planner III

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineering Planner III to join our team at Catapult. This role will be responsible for mentoring transportation planners, coordinating with clients, and overseeing project schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor project schedules and ensure timely completion within budget.
  • Prepare and complete planning tasks, including production of planning documents, surveys, reports, and facilitation of public meetings and steering committee meetings.
  • Schedule and conduct field observations and data collection activities.
  • Develop project strategies, identifying milestones, planning techniques, stakeholders, schedule, and project objectives.
  • Analyze technical problems, assessing feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Manage projects by coordinating with clients, directing the planning process, and coordinating the project team.
  • Coordinate with clients to define work programs and budgets, provide leadership in project planning and strategy, and ensure quality of work products.
  • Complete work accurately and in accordance with good planning codes and practice.
  • Multi-task and communicate schedule and progress on assigned tasks.
  • Secure and manage successful, profitable projects.
  • Participate in industry organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in planning or related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in transportation planning.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • GIS software experience, required.
  • NEPA/SEPA experience, required.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • American Institute of Certified Planning (AICP) credentials or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), required.
  • NCDOT experience, preferred.
