SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The incumbent will foster and uphold a secure and encouraging educational atmosphere to facilitate the comprehensive growth of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical, and academic experiences. The role aligns with the Bureau of Indian Education's commitment to delivering high-quality educational opportunities from early childhood through adulthood, while respecting the cultural and economic needs of the tribes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role encompasses a full spectrum of cleaning tasks within the educational facility. Responsibilities include:
  • Cleaning offices, classrooms, storage spaces, hallways, and entry areas.
  • Utilizing various materials, chemicals, and equipment for sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing.
  • Managing waste disposal by emptying trash receptacles and transporting waste to designated areas.
  • Vacuuming and maintaining carpets, as well as washing windows, blinds, and chalkboards.
  • Overseeing students assigned to cleaning duties, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and proper use of materials.
  • Performing minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, touch-up painting, and graffiti removal.
  • Ensuring the proper upkeep of cleaning equipment and supplies, including adherence to safety data sheets.
  • Occasionally engaging in outdoor tasks such as snow removal, grass mowing, and shrub trimming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED. No prior experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants should be capable of lifting over 50 pounds and maintaining excellent physical fitness. Good vision and hearing capabilities are essential.
