Account Manager, Community Engagement and Risk Communications

About the RoleWe are seeking a highly driven and organized Account Executive to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in community engagement and/or risk communications and will be responsible for supporting our work with FEMA on the Community Engagement and Risk Communication (CERC) contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with a federal agency and a dynamic team of experts in behavior change, disaster resilience, risk communications, emergency management, community outreach, partnership building, community planning, and engineering. The role will involve working collaboratively with colleagues in Washington, D.C., and 10 regional offices nationwide to accomplish significant results in the areas of raising understanding of local vulnerabilities and driving action to strengthen communities.
Key Responsibilities- Work integrally with internal team members to develop and deliver great work
- Support the management and execution of community engagement projects, including coordination of content, location, attendees, and format in direct consultation with local jurisdictions, states, and federal agencies
- Support the development and coordination of localized strategic communication plans and content related to community resilience for local, state, and tribal governments
- Perform research and analysis to inform project development and execution
- Support the development and management of existing and new partnerships with local influencers, consumer, nonprofit, and business organizations, and professional organizations
- Assist in preparation of a variety of written materials, including community profiles, engagement reports, communications plans, partnership agreements, locally tailored outreach tools, and materials, and reports
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to identify opportunities for more creative and comprehensive outreach and communication materials that visually describe engagement processes
- Collaborate with the internal project team in the development of staffing and scoping requirements for numerous projects
- 1-2 years of related, full-time client-facing industry experience managing the delivery of great work
- Knowledge of or interest in climate change resilience and/or hazard mitigation at the local, state, or federal level
- Familiarity with or interest in equity-centered approaches to community engagement and program delivery
- Ability to think strategically about issues and message development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform research and analysis
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Dependable and collaborative team member, willing to take on new challenges
